We always thought it’s great to share reading lists, as it opens up different types of reading that you might not have come across on your own. I like to ask and hear what my friends / favourite bloggers / favourite personalities are reading and I’ve come across some good stuff!

I’ve been blazing through reading material this year by my standards, although not as quickly as we’ve blazed through Netflix material 😉 Nice to start reading again, I did absolutely love reading throughout my childhood.

So here goes, in no particular order, some of our best reads to-date and books we definitely hope our kids would read in time!

I’m not linking these books to Amazon or Kindle because I’m sure you are resourceful enough to source it 🙂 We hardly buy books as we borrow from the local library (hard copies and digital copies). Saves money, saves space at home, less wastage, everyone is happier! Seems like a win in all ways!

  • Jim Roger’s Street Smarts – Wall Street legend but also a man with such an adventourous spirit. Truly entertaining and inspiring. I remember Mr.C got two signed copies of this book when Jim Rogers spoke in Singapore many years ago. I was meant to go as well, but choose to hang out with my brother who was visiting. Made for a memorable night, missed the legend himself speak but would probably make the same decision again 🙂

  • Richard Branson’s Losing My Virginity – An incredibly accomplished man with great business sense, a never back down spirit and the most amazing attitude to life. This book is worth a re-visit every now and again. Here are just some of the memorable lines for me:
  1. Don’t take yourself too seriously.
  2. Important to show a little humour and personality (in everything).
  3. Live each day like it’s the last, loving my family fiercely and finding ways to do better. (I think this needs to be balanced with responsible decision-making, and frequent assessments of how often you’re doing what’s important to you).
  4. Sometimes finding the right choice is by getting lost instead (but eventually the right choice will be the choice you make).
  5. Whenever you came across absurd rules, take advantage of it!
  6. Look to the stars often.
  7. I always say passion but I miss out enthusiasm. Passion without enthusiasm is boring.
  • Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist – Brilliant story-telling about self-discovery. I received this book as a gift when I was 10 years old from my brother’s friend. The penny didn’t drop reading it. However since then, I’ve gone back to this book at least 3 times and the last time was the audiobook version, and it was beautiful. Memorable lines:
  1. When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.
  2. The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.
  3. Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.
  4. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.
  5. You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it’s better to listen to what it has to say.

Happy Reading! Drop your fav books in the comments because I am always looking for new good reads!
