Juggling our balls – a tricky Google image search keyword

It feels like it’s been ages since we last wrote a post! In case you missed us and have started to wonder if your favourite coconuts have absconded to an island and retired, this post is for you!

Life happened. Mr.C is too busy at work to update his blog on early retirement #irony Ms.K has started a semi-retired arrangement effective 1st March and finds that she has lesser time than ever! #saywhat

Before we go on, high-fives all around for Ms.K’s semi-retired state!

I (Ms.K) worked out a trial arrangement for the next 2 months to see how this goes. I reckon I can put in 2 hours a day of work and the boss-man seems happy with it. Effective 1st March, Mr.C’s folks have returned to their home, leaving us to fend for ourselves! How could they? I mean, we’re still kids! Ok, our kids are still kids, we just appreciated the extra pairs of loving hands. Oh and Mr.C’s momma makes some amazing food along with the ability to put Coco#2 to sleep like a magician. How I miss her!

How was day 1 & 2 of working from home, caring for Coco #2, picking Coco #1 from school, cleaning the house and cooking dinner? As tiring as writing all of that sounded! I was knackered and out like a light at 9pm.

How am I enjoying it? I love being able to care for Coco#2 and he’s such a happy kid! That said, taking care of the child is back-breaking work. This 4 month old is 9kgs! I will admit, I miss work a lot as well. I miss uninterrupted focus. I miss the social aspect of going out and into work. I was reluctant to quit to begin with so this is me being a real trooper. So in that sense, am glad the boss-man worked this flexi hours out for me. I still get paid a decent amount if I can put in at least 2 hours a day / 10 hours a week. If I do more, I’ll get paid more. So this makes me still feel like I’m still a part of the folks in my organisation, fighting the good fight. Admittedly there are many times I wish I didn’t have this arrangement so I can rest while the baby sleeps! This thought is quickly vaporised by thinking of my hourly pay rate. I still like the feeling of earning my keep. #easingintoretirement

In about 3 weeks, we’re flying off to the Land Down Under for our first holiday for the year! Woohooo! It’s also going to be our first trip with Coco#2. Updates to come!

We realise we’re entirely behind on some very fun activities such as actually planning the rest of the holidays for the year and writing about topics that is of interest to us on the blog. We’re trying to keep our balls in the air and finding our rhythm. Would help if I stopped arranging for activities over the weekend or pawned our kids off for a bit.

Hang tight dear coconuts, we’ll be back with some scintillating thoughts soon!

Ms.K is everything that Mr.C is, without the natural interest in investing and company financials! The activity planner for the family, the driver of random ideas and soon to be ‘retiring’ in to full time motherhood – Ms.K has no idea what she’s in for but remains super excited!

  1. wow 9kg at 4 months?Already mine is more than 6 at 3 months and I thought that was back breaking! (Ally was a much smaller kid.) Enjoy your holidays! Can’t wait to read about your adventures!

    1. Hahah yea this kid is a big fella and they only get bigger!! He’s my workout plan :p Hope you are doing OK with 2 in the coop! Am curious, what will be Ashton’s care arrangement if you go back to work?

And yes, I can’t wait to go away on our trip 😀

  2. Surprisingly Ashton is an easier kid to manage (hopefully he stays that way!) so it’s been pretty manageable so far. We had plans to send him to infant care but the one near our place is already full! Might have to depend on our parents to take care in the interim….

    1. Ah yes, our 2nd child seems easier as well. It’s either that or we’re more experienced, or perhaps a combination? Hahah! I certainly hope this keeps up as well. Infant care centers are in demand, gluck with that and good to have folks nearby to care for him! I am, at this point, welcoming all aunts to come visit so I get some help / can work more 😀
