We love grocery shopping in Australia! From one of our first trips together to Melbourne many years ago, pre-baby days, we realised this. We loved everything about it – the quality of the food, the bright colours, the big spaces to walk around and pick your goods, the choices, the affordable prices!

We’re clearly meat lovers and that was the biggest draw. Cheap and luscious meat. We would have packed some back to Singapore if it wasn’t for the 5 hour layover in Melbourne! Lamb chops going at 1/3 the price of what it would be in Singapore and it was just delicious!

Look at the selection of dips and pate!
Tomato on the vine, such a pretty picture
The wide array of healthy (and giant!) vegetables
Berries! Berries at $3.50 a pop, cheap and sweet!
Gorgeous slab of meat at a reduced price, so so cheap!
Another reduced price huge chunka’ meat
Huge spaces to wander about!
I usually do not like buying sausages, too processed I feel. However these are so gorgeous!
Magnificent slabs of meat at such affordable prices!
I had to be dragged away from this showcase. A lot of primal desires were aroused looking at this, haha!
Free fruit for kids! Generous and inculcating good habits, I love it!
A snapshot of our bill to show how cheap everything is! Of course, I didn’t expect to be hit with a $100 bill, but we brought a lot of the spices etc home.

It can be quite affordable to have a very good quality meal at home in Australia compared to Singapore. The benefits of being in an agricultural country. We even visited oyster farms and scallop farms to get our hands on fresh seafood (scallops, mussels, oysters) and they were ridiculously cheap.

Do we have any readers that enjoy doing groceries in a foreign country? Where’s your fav spot?
